Paizo and More

A couple more critters done for Paizo earlier this year.

Aeteperax, from "The Dragon's Demand" Adventure Path.

Infernal Crocodile, from the "Reign of Winter" Adventure Path.

Ever look at a seemingly abstract pattern and see objects, creatures, or faces? I was looking at what I believe was a photo of the surface of mars, and thought it's crater riddled texture looked like the front half of some sort of Egyptian posed alien. So I painted him.

Last is a simple practice critter. A big beefy scaley cow.

Sketches 6/9/13

Just a couple things. Another sketch of Arro (the dragon) and a Behemoth rough concept. I hope to get back into working on the Aerie project soon. Producing a lot of concept sketches of the world and characters. The behemoths serve a background role. They're future magafauna, having evolved from either elephants, rhinoceros, giraffes, oxen or other large ungulate herbivores. They're prime prey for dragons, wyverns, and other big predators, as well as beasts of burden and livestock for humans.

Finally able to show a bunch of paintings I did way back in January for Paizo. These are all from the recently released "Reign of Winter" Adventure Path.

More Zbrush

Well, finished up my school's Zbrush class and it certainly was a fun first foray into the program. Maybe one day I'll figure out how to render things nicely, I feel like my lack of lighting skill within it really destroyed whatever I managed to sculpt.

Oh look a dragon! Started sculpting Arro for fun. No teeth, spikes or extreme detail yet. Still messing around with proportions, and will probably increase his wingspan. He's proving to be an educational experience when it comes to fully realizing hexapodal anatomy. I've always had an idea of how the musculature for a dragon would wrap around the body, and have done plenty of anatomical sheets in profile, but putting it into a 3D format certainly helps cement the spatial relationships in my mind.

Palapunctor Sculpt

Been working on a sculpt of a creature of mine for my zbrush class. Based it on the Lightning Lure/Palapunctor and sketched him in a spiffy pose and a little costume. I've a ways left to go yet, more detailing, pose refinement, color and something for him to stand on.

Arro Doodles

Haven't had as much time for personal drawing lately, so I figured I might as well post whatever I manage to jot down. Just some doodles of Arro. Featuring cartoonish dancing and a rudimentary idea of what he might look like as a youngster.

Cowboy

It's Clint Eastwood, I mean John Marston, I mean a cowboy. Yup, a completely original cowboy.

It's not my fault that whenever I imagine cowboys they all look like

Clint Eastwood, it's not...

Also, listened almost entirely to the Django Unchained Soundtrack while painting this.

Jawesome

Dan Luvisi requested I do a piece for his reprint of his awesome book "LMS, Killbook of a Bounty Hunter". And of course I can't say no to that opportunity. So here's one of the many fabulous characters of Last Man Standing. Jawesome, just being his ol' sharky self.

Sculpting

Been very busy lately with school and contract work. I've started plenty of personal paintings but haven't had the time to finish any of them up yet. Those that I have finished I can't yet post online. So here's some school work to tide this place over. First time working with clay and first time sculpting with Zbrush. The program itself is awesome, I can't wait to use it more. It has been added to my ever growing list of things I need to practice. Sculpting traditionally is equally entertaining. Anyway, please forgive my poor photo quality.

Full figure above, (she was originally holding a spear prop) and bust before and after firing.

For my Zbrush class. Work in progress of a portrait of Willem Dafoe. Starting poly painting soon.
